Chris Asked:

I have been looking for new cleats but, I am not sure what cleats are good for a goalkeeper. Do you know some? I have also heard Adidas predators are good but I'm not sure if its true.

Dear Chris,

Thank you for submitting your question to Ask the Goalkeeper. Finding the right cleat can sometimes be very difficult for a player. It is difficult for me to give you a recommendation on what cleat would fit best for you. I do recommend looking into getting a pair of cleats that are made for soft ground (SG). I almost always wear soft grounds during games. I feel that the extra length in the studs gives me better grip for when I do quick bursts. Wearing soft grounds is a personal decision and wearing them can also depend on the condition of the field.
Predators are a very popular cleat. I feel that they fit well if you have more of a narrow foot. I personally like the feel of the predators, but they are a bit expensive. I recommend you go to your local soccer store and try on as many cleats as you can. Cleats fit differently depending on the brand, so make sure you try on different sizes to make sure you get the right fit.
I hope you find this information helpful. Please let me know if you would like me to further explain anything.

Thank you,
Chase Harrison
